The village is on a hill which separates the Rhone valley and that of the Venaissin County .the place was inhabited at the end of prehistory, as evidenced by various archaeological witnesses .The village still has walls of elements that some doors. The church is partly Romanesque while the belfry dates from the eighteenth century. The castle, built around 1150, considered one of the finest in the region, through some still remains. It was looted and destroyed during the Revolution. Its ancient walls still exist and are widely visible from the lookout at the Church of St. John the Baptist.
Near the tower built in the fourteenth Jas century.Free fountain bears the name of the village patron, Marie Pierre d'Alcantra Goujon, who was a founder Theodore Aubanel and other fébriliges, a literary movement greatly expanded in Provence. Frederic Mistal which was the master and nobel literature prize in 1904
