Contrary to the majority of the provençaux villages Valbonne was built according to a checkerboard plan established by the monks of the islands of Lerins off Cannes. The village is limited by houses ramparts and includes/understands a door of entry on each one on its 4 sides.
Sometimes the maze of the streets of the old village will lead you to the place of the arcades (17th century), to the town hall and its belfry of (19th century), its fountain and its beautiful basin where horses and mules (1950) watered themselves, sometimes in front of beautiful doors with the lintels decorated with emblèmes the penitent ones and trade-guild.
