Located on a collar of altitude which makes communicate the country of Seyne with the valley of Ubaye, Midsummer's Day Montclar obtained the label "Village of Mountain", guarantee of authenticity, user-friendliness, and good qualité/prix report/ratio.

Built at the beginning of the Seventies, this small family station proves the will of the inhabitants of Montclar to create jobs complementary for the farmers so that they are not tempted to go to live downtown.

It is also of this will that was born "Water from Montclar", the highest source of mountain of Europe (labellized "spring water of mountain").

If the old village of Montclar does not exist any more, ruined at the 16th century at the time of the wars of religion, it remains some scattered houses and barns on a timbered small valley, dominated by some high tops…

And especially, a Vault of Salette and its tower of the clock built at the 19th century, aSaint-Léger Vault (undoubtedly built by Templiers at the 13th century) and a Castle of Montclar dating from the 17th century: this last, still property of the family which acquired it with the Revolution, is not visited.
