the pit and the cascade in period of high flow of resurgence

The fountain of Vaucluse Fontaine of Vaucluse one of the natural sites the most is probably visited of Vaucluse: in estival period, the streets of Fountain are literally invaded by crowd and the souvenir shops taken by storm… to be able to stroll quietly in the charming lanes of the village try to be matinal.Ce success holds primarily with the very impressive source which spouts out with the foot of a cliff of 230m top. This gigantic fountain is most powerful of France (and the fifth world one) with a water annual throughput of 630 million cubic meters. Its generally calm water green-emerald the summer becomes spectacular in period of raw (in autumn and in spring): 90 m3 a second flow in the bed of Sorgue. In all seasons of the secondary sources feed the river and form a very beautiful shaded water level by immense plane trees.

Fountain of Vaucluse which has the privilege to have given its name to the department, draws its etymology from its geographical curiosity "Vallis Clausa": Closed valley: Vaucluse. This picturesque site is indeed in a deep valley with a landscape strewn with caves and small valleys. It inspired by many artists of which most famous were Frederic Mistral, François Pétrarque and Rene Char. All were allured by the beauty of the site and enchantement gotten by their walks along Sorgue and of its green banks

La falaise de Lioux
régional park of Luberon

Boris and lavender on the Luberon

Luberon is an assembly line of Provence culminating to 1125 m with Mourre Nègre, which is stretched gently between the Alps and the Mediterranean in a superb light.

The regional natural reserve extends on 67 communes between Vaucluse and Alp-of-High-Provence, of Cavaillon in Villeneuve.

It gets busy to preserve the solid mass of Luberon which preserves rich and diversified natural environments. In addition to this mission of protection, the park is also intended for the economic and social development, with the safeguard of the rural inheritance not protected, with the adjustment of paths and routes making it possible to the visitor to discover the natural environment.

The beauty and the variety of the landscapes, yellow-earth quarries, orchards as far as the eye can see, green hills and small villages of stone perched on the heights are exceptional.

The bories are houses without only one beam out of wooden, built very out of dry stone by the peasants and the shepherds…

The art of living of Luberon attracted painters, writers and other artists…
