MONT DAUPHIN FORT:
Slightly in the north of Guillestre, Mont-Dauphin is accessible by the Main road 94 which goes from Briançon to Embrun (or in the other direction:-)).
From there you will be able to then enter Queyras.

The fortified town of Mount-Dolphin dominates the valleys of Guil and the Durance. It was built by Vauban since 1693, to fight against the repetitive attacks of the duke of Savoy. Then it was arranged and improved throughout the 18° and 19° centuries.
At the interior of the enclosure rise the military buildings, of which the poudrière (end XVIIe), the Rochambeau barracks, casemate of XVIIIe, houses and the arsenal (XVIIIe).
With Mount-Dolphin, the majority of old architectures are protected with the title from the historic buildings
The significant sunning (approximately 300 days per annum) as well as altitude (1000 meters) facilitate the activities of outside, while breathing a very pure air.
Throughout the year and according to the seasons, you will be able to alternate the winter sports and the water sports, while passing by the activities of running water
