Mane is a beautiful village located at the heart of the country of Forcalquier and its splendid landscapes which decline their colors with the liking of the seasons. Vast cultivated fields, plates and undulating hills frame the village under one of the purest ciels of Provence. Before even your arrival, you will see the village of Mane by far, being rolled up on its hillock in an original way, crowned by a double rampart.
By visiting the village, you will discover the frontage baroque of the church Saint Andre (XV° and XVII° centuries) framed of two monumental doors, you will not be able to miss the bell-tower and its stone tower of high size of 31 Mr. In the High street, you will be able to admire the private mansion Miravail of the XVI° and XVIII° centuries. Ramparts, monuments, private mansions and old houses were built mainly with "the stone of Mane" coming from the close careers thus giving a perfect unit to the village.
Mane is likely to have the single fortification (supplements) High Provence former to the XVII° century. You will be able to discover it while going up at the top of the village by the calades, by making the turn of the walls of the citadel, you will see the gate with machicolation and the watch towers of angle. Since the citadel you will have a unspoilable view the plain of Mane, the cupolas of the Observatory of St Michel and Luberon and in the foreground the pretty mosaic of the roofs of the villages.
To 2 km of Mane, you will be able to discover the Castle of Sauvan (which one also calls "small Trianon provençal")construit in 1720 and restored very well in the pure French traditional style as at his origins.
The Academy of the Ethnological Inheritance of High Provence is sheltered in superb ND Prieuré of Salagon and presents the exposure of its research, its garden of aromatic plants and its medieval garden
