360° panoramic view From 11 century  monastére "Château de Thouzon"

Thor is a town situated on the edges of Sorgue, in the country of the Mountains of Vaucluse. Created probably from the VII-th century, this town comtadine offers today some vestiges of its past which deserve your attention.

The Church Our Lady of the Lake takes care of the city for the XII-th century. She(it) kept(preserved) all the character of origin and presents beautiful sculptures on the gates. Romanic in all the set(group), the unique(only) nef is sheltered with the most former(old), Gothic vaults of Provence. By trailing round you in the streets of Thor, you will not be able to miss the medieval castle, restored in the last century, You will also discover a triumph gate opened in its former(ancient) ramparts. She(it) is surmounted with the municipal clock and with the forged iron bell tower. This door, or more précisemment this bell tower,

Around Thor, beautiful walks should be made, (numerous routes(courses) of drives(rides) take their departure here). In particular, you will be able to walk towards the hill of Thouzon which is crowned with the vestiges of a castle and d? A chapel. To reach it, it is enough to follow in l? The West of the village, a small road which leads towards a hill covered with scrubland and dominated with the white ruins of the buildings(ships) of the convent.

In 3 km by D16, you will also be able to visit Thouzon's cave which is a natural subterranean cave going back up(raising) to the geologic period of the Cretaceous. Conducted tour leads(drives) you along a narrow path which is the fossil bed d? An ancient(former) subterranean river. You will see there surprising very fine stalactites. The cave long two hundred thirty metres was discovered(found) by chance in 1902 by workers who worked in a career. It is the only natural cave of Vaucluse fitted out for the tourism.
