It is a tank of 1,2 billion m3 of water and 2 800 hectares feeding 16 hydroelectric power stations, is 10 % of the French hydroelectric production and 50 % of the production of the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure! The stopping also has as a function irrigation (150 000 ha cultivated concerned via the channel of the Durance), the industrial water and drinking water supply (towns of Sisteron, of Marseilles, and many communes of the VAr and the littoral).
