The village of the Guard-Adhémar preserved its medieval structure, enclosed in ramparts in edge of a rocky outcrop dominating the plain of Pierrelatte and the valley of the Rhone.

Traces of Gallo-Roman habitat are located in the hills. The site of the Valley of the Nymphs, to 2 km of the current perched village, testifies to a worship to the divinities of water and the goddesses mothers. A small furnace bridge, dedicated to the goddesses nymphs, found in the vicinity, was deposited at the entry of the Saint-Michel church. The Guard-Adhémar is in the south of Drome (drôme of Provence, to 7 km of Pierrelatte and of the Farm to the Crocodiles.
With the Middle Ages, it was a famous fortified town for its point of view on the valley of the Rhone. Its name comes owing to the fact that the garrison of the family Adhémar (which lived in Montélimar) was stationed at the village.
The church is dedicated to St Michel. The first mention of a vault dependant on the abbey of Tournus on this site goes back to 1105. The current Church would have been set up at the time of second half of the 12th century.
