Large borough of mountain nested in a green valley, near two Natural reserves (Jewel cases and Queyras), Guillestre breathes a fresh air coming from the very close mountains.
Perhaps one will be astonished by knowing that Guillestre is also a "town of art and history": beyond its placette vain decorated in its medium with a beautiful pink marble fountain of Guillestre, where the office of tourism is, borrow the holy lane Catherine which opens under a porch and you will have pretty surprises: in addition to beautiful frontages with the tone pastel, some superb buildings like the old "room of" or lintel district court of door dating from the 18th century.
Classified historic building, the imposing church Our-Lady of North wind was built at the 16th century in the style novel-lombard, by using the pink marble in particular extracts from the local careers, by the architect lombard Galéas: it has an enormous Gothic porch with pillars supported by lions, a sumptuous gate and a bell-tower of Romance style on three floors.
Very close, the baroque Saint-Sébastien vault, with the frontage magnifiquement restored, will dazzle you by its sculptures in horn-the eye.
Further, one will admire the beautiful remainders of medieval ramparts, in particular the tower of guet of Eygliers, which has still proud pace.
After the culture, nature will be able to take again its rights: leave to the attack the high tops the park the Jewel cases, descend in rafting tumultuous Guil or send you in the air in parapente or coasting flight, thanks to the upward hot draughts! S neighbors:
