Força Réal is a rock piton of 507m of altitude overhanging all Roussillon. the sight extends from the course of Port-Vendres until Leucate, with a panorama with 360° being spread out valley of Agly to that of the Small fireclay cup. It is on this strategic site being used as reference mark to the sailors that the counts of Roussillon built a tower with signals, in connection with that of Tautavel.
With the treaty of Corbeil in 1258, the new Masters of Roussillon (kings d' Aragon, then of Majorque, built a castle which entered the defense system of the Northern border of the area. It supplemented the line made up of the castle of Salses and Opoul inter alia. This castle was called “the royal castle”, which gave as a Catalan of the time “Força Réal”.

In 1693, the castle and the tower were definitively destroyed, it does not remain about it more nothing today.
April 19th, 1693. By act of concession Noble gave Joanna de Ros, baroness of Montclar, rams of Millau, using of its property right, concedes with the reverend François Bobo, priest of the parish of Pézilla, the privilege to build on the territory of Forced Réal a vault dedicated to the Happy Virgin Mary. The construction of the vault probably lasted a few years. The first bell was bénite on June 23rd, 1708 by the reverend father Gabriel Bruguera, priest of Millas. The remainders of the tower with signals were used as a basis for construction of the absidiole. The vault was surrounded by plantation which made it possible the hermit to live in autonomy (vines, orchards, kitchen gardens)
The year 1714 saw to achieve two important facts: - establishment of the annual procession of the parish of Millas, in order to entreat the storms accompanied by hail which, by wind of North, fell down on the plain. and the death of the baroness of Montclar.
After the revolution in 1791 the exercise of the worship was suspended there as well as the annual processions. The great interest carried by the inhabitants of Millas to this sanctuary caused its restoration in 1819. The reopening and the blessing of the vault took place on October 23rd, 1822. It is on this date that the processions began again.
The exposure of this building to the bad weather explains its frequent restorations, always made by the inhabitants of Millas, Corneilla of the river and Montner. The last date of 1987-1988 on the initiative of association Notre Dame de Força Réal.
The festivals of the Virgin give place to ceremonies on August 14th in evening (taken care mariale and descent of the torches), on September 8th (the Virgin is celebrated in the 3 parishes) and every Good Friday.
