By far, Chorges appears as a large borough which is drawn up on bottom of high mountains, tightened around a beautiful Romance bell-tower.

More closely, you will learn that the church Saint Victor dates from the 12th century, and that the very close solid masses, Aiguilles of Chabrières and Mont Colombis, culminate with 2500 meters.

Chorges was, under Antiquity, a station of the Roman way Briançon-Arles, and capital of Caturiges. It remains besides of this time a stele carrying an inscription dedicated to "Néron, prince of youth".
In the Middle Ages, Chorges was surrounded by flanked ramparts of round towers, of which there remain only some vestiges today. The fact remains that one strolls in the still paved lanes of Chorges will transport you in the past: you will admire here a round fountain which spits of water by the mouth of imaginary animals as much as old (gone back to 1548), there a door of the 16th century, without forgetting the historic building of Chorges, the church Saint Victor with the roof of shingles. Still superb in spite of its worthy age - 12th century for the primitive church, it was built over several centuries: the specialists will recognize a door of 13th, a window "blazing" of 15th, a bell-tower on two floors of 14th or a Renaissance furnace bridge

Concurrently to this rich person inheritance, Chorges also has the chance to be located very close to the lake of Ponçon Greenhouse and with the doors of the National park of the Jewel cases. Amateurs of water sports or high level alpinism, Nature with large N is offered to you since Chorges!
