Castle-Arnoux/Saint-Auban is located on right bank of the Durance. The two villages Castle-Arnoux in the East and Saint-Auban in the West gathered to form only one commune. Castle-Arnoux/Saint-Auban is today the 4° city of the department with more than 5.000 inhabitants. You will thus find there a centre town trading animated, all the services practical, a shopping centre and many structures of leisures and sporting.

Castle-Arnoux has the chance to have the Durance which crosses part of its territory and forms a kind of small lake thanks to the stopping of the Stopover. You will be able to make there the pleasant ones and fresh walks, it is also a significant ornithological site.

You will be able to visit the castle built between 1510 and 1530 per Pierre de Glandevès, you will admire its 4 turns (rounds in the West and square in the East) and its spiral staircase. The castle is decorated in the Renaissance style with waste-gas main and mullioned windows on the roof. It shelters the town hall today. You will make a small pause in the landscape park of the castle, for then going to just discover beside the park the Farm of Make-Robert (old farm of the castle of the XVI°).

With the View-point of the Midsummer's Day vault, to 2 km of the center of Castle-Arnoux by N96, you will have an imposing panorama to cut you the soufle on the mountain of Lure, the valley of the Durance and Sisteron, the stopping of the Stopover with the préalpes of Worthy behind plane.

Saint Auban shelters the prestigious national center of gliding. Of international reputation, this high level center accomodated into 1997 the championships of the world of gliding.

In very an other field, Saint-Auban also shelters a vast industrial complex of chemical factory (Elf-Atochem) which contributed to the economic development of the area.
