In one of the most beautiful villages of France, located at the heart of the Regional Natural reserve of Queyras, you will find time to listen to us to speak about our life, of our valley; a little Véran Saint will remain in you…

Perched 2042 meters of altitude and located in the Regional Park of Queyras, Saint-Véran benefits, as the remainder of the area, a dry and very sunny climate. Its valley, broadside of mountains culminating with 3 000 meters and more, were always a significant crossroads of the great routes of the crossing of Alpes.Saint-Véran has a long historical past which goes up with antiquity.

The village, which counts 270 permanent inhabitants today, knew all the vicissitudes of the history of Dauphiné and our country. Constructions which one can see in the village result from the adaptation, as of the Middle Ages, with the life in high altitude and are of a single model in Europe.

Currently, this family station of ski can accomodate approximately 1 800 people. Without giving up his identity, Saint-Véran knew to adapt to the new conditions of the modern life. The agricultural and pastorales activities which, without disappearing, lose importance, preserve at the village its aspect of the rural communities and the summer sees arriving the transhumants which remain from June to October in the mountain pastures.

The tradition is also maintained through architecture. The craft industry of wood remains also very alive. Saint-Véran exports his carved pieces of furniture and objects whose success near the public is due to the allied quality of work to a traditional manufacture.

Today, Saint-Véran is classified among Plus Beautiful Villages of France
