Formerly, the Rooms on the Verdon was a small village
typical of the High-VAr which ran peaceful days at the bottom of the valley. But in 1973 it was sacrificed to the production of electricity and was disappeared under the water retained by the dam Ste Croix.
The first stone of the new village was posed May 1970 and rebuilt at the edge of the new lake of 2.700 ha. The proximity of this great water level made Rooms a place of interest and a small seaside resort good equipped. Architecture is there a mixture of modern and traditional of Provence. One preserved of the old village the fountain, the 2 laundrettes, the war memorial, the bell-tower and of many door frames.
Thanks to its incomparable situation, the village tries to find a new life in a harmonious development:la population can go up there to 4.000 residents during the estival season.
